Axia shakes things up at the Hellenic Film Festival in New York

Axia Mastiha Spirit made a bold debut in New York as a major sponsor of the Hellenic Film Society’s New York Greek Film Expo, which took place from October 3 to 13, 2024. This prestigious annual event, showcasing the best of Greek cinema, celebrated another successful year with screenings at iconic venues such as Village East by Angelika, the Barrymore Film Centre, and the Museum of the Moving Image.

The festival opened with a night of cinematic brilliance, including the highly anticipated screening of Little Things That Went Wrong (2023), directed by Haris Vafeiadis and later in the week the acclaimed box-office hit, Fonissa (2023), directed by Eva Nathena. Throughout the festival, attendees were treated to thought-provoking films, engaging Q&A sessions, and special appearances by renowned Greek actors and filmmakers, including host Thanos Tokakis.

Opening night reception

As the audience exited the screening on opening night, the celebration continued at the reception. Guests were served expertly crafted cocktails made with Axia’s extra-dry Mastiha spirit, a unique white spirit distilled from the resin of the Mastiha tree native to Chios Island. Global brand ambassador Giannis, known for flair behind the bar, served up refreshing Axia cocktails.

New York City Brand Ambassador

Axia proudly introduced its New York City Brand Ambassador, Dimitri Vasilakis, an accomplished figure in the city's dynamic beverage scene. Dimitri will spearhead Axia’s growth and visibility in New York, ensuring that this distinct spirit continues to captivate the city’s taste and cultural explorers.

Axia’s involvement in the festival marks a significant milestone as the brand expands its presence in the U.S. market. Available through Regal Wines in New York, Axia is set to introduce its unparalleled flavour profile to the city’s discerning drinkers. Made with only 0.5% naturally occurring sugar and boasting a crisp, extra-dry finish, Axia is not just a spirit—it’s an experience that reinvents how we think about cocktails.

As the Hellenic Film Expo wraps up its 2024 edition, Axia looks forward to continuing its support of cultural and artistic endeavours that celebrate Greek heritage while embracing modernity.

Cheers to a successful festival, and here’s to the exciting future of Axia in New York!
