Ana Jaric for Axia | Trailblazing women redefining the drinks industry

This International Women’s Day, Axia is shining a spotlight on the trailblazing women redefining the drinks industry. Throughout March, we’re showcasing female mixologists and industry leaders across London, New York, and Athens—women who bring creativity, expertise, and a bold perspective to their craft.

Through a series of Q&As, we’re sharing their journeys, inspirations, and impact, offering a glimpse into the passion and talent shaping the future of the cocktail making industry. Follow along as we celebrate those who push boundaries and step beyond the ordinary.

What's your signature cocktail, and how does it represent your personal style behind the bar?

My focus right now is actually on creating my first cocktail! When I moved to the US and started working at Employees Only, my palate wasn’t as well-developed. However, day by day, I began experimenting with new food and drinks, and my palate has since evolved. I’m a picky eater, so for me, the biggest challenge was creating a cocktail. The people around me know my tastes and preferences, and I want to craft a drink that combines all the flavours I enjoy. My goal is to have my cocktail ready for the next cocktail menu, and I hope everyone will come to try it.

believe all challenges exist for a reason - they're there to help me grow."

As a female mixologist, what challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?

I would say every day presents a new challenge. I’m someone who thrives on challenges, which is one of the reasons I love this job. When I started building my career, I faced many obstacles. The Apprentice Program at Employees Only is one of the toughest programs in the industry. Along with the physical demands of the job, I would say the mental aspect is even more challenging. I work every day on improving myself—learning how to engage with people, handling unpredictable situations, and staying true to who I am. I know what I want and why I’m here. I’m passionate and patient, and I believe all challenges exist for a reason—they’re there to help me grow.

What's one piece of advice you'd give to women looking to break into the drinks industry?

My advice is simple: YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. There is not a single thing that a woman cannot achieve if she puts her mind to it and is passionate enough.
